New Song

You know what day it is? Well, you might very well have forgotten and who could blame you? After all I missed the last two. But it's Alice Day--the day when I post lyrics and an mp3 to a (usually) new song.  If you would like to see songs from previous Alice Days, click on the "new song" tag. So do you like Alice Day in general?  This song in particular?  These posts are not getting a lot of responses, so I have no way of knowing if they are pleasing a lot of people or just a dedicated few.
Art Feeds Life mp3 (a capella) is herelyrics and melody by Cat Faber

Art feeds life and life feeds art
And art feeds life, but you know you need
Guts and brains to follow your heart
Into the life you dared to start
And the dreams that sometimes make you bleed.

So you pay the price assessed
Burn bright, beating back dark of death
Still you feel in your secret chest
There are times that you wish for rest
More than water or food or breath.

You're glad you made the crossroad deal.
You swore to go to any length,
And all your friends who wish you weal,
Straighten spines of silver and steel,
Tap their spirits to will you strength.

Strongly though you wish to stay,
The story calls you down the road;
You know you can't go on this way,
But still you think for one more day,
If you stand up straight you can bear the load.

(repeat 1st verse)

Cool song! Rockin' alliteration, inter alia!

You're reaching further than you know. As we were putting away instrument cases at the SC housefilk last night, I mentioned how you were building your own, followed by details of tidy workshop & canoe[s] construction. The person I was talking to said they hadn't known about the canoes, but had been following your songs about craftsmanship, & the songs suddenly made even more sense. The folks I was talking to were impressed with your talent & songs, but I'm not sure they know about your LJ. Maybe you need to post links to these posts over on the filk & other filk comms.
Oh, cool.

That's a good idea; I will see about doing that. Thanks for bringing it up.
You're very welcome. Have you considered sending any of these songs to quadrivium for the GaFilk songbook?
Another timely reminder; I need to do that very thing. Thanks :-)
The way you've been writing, you'll have lots of options available.

:)
I like it. It seems like a cousin to "Under the Gripping Beast," though it's not as dark.
:-) Thank you. It was inspired by a couple of things seanan-mcguire posted.

I'm pleased with how the tune came out and have chords plus most of a harmony. The problem is the chords and the harmony are in conflict and I haven't decided yet which one I want to go with.
